Even if it was game lore the lore would note that she's a Kuzunoha. That's not exactly something you miss.

It wasn't considered a big deal back then. At that time, Devil Summoner was just a spin off like Devil Children and Last Bible. The fact that she was a devil summoner was the nod to Saturn game. The name Kuzunoha wasn't important.
