I don't think controls are the real obstacle for Phones and Tablets to push the consoles out of the market. Also not the power. Both are things, that game-developers can adapt to. Sure, some games (like Jump&Runs and Fighters) will be hard without hardware buttons. But possible. And the games of the competitors will face the same problems. Other games might work even better with touch controls or gyroscope, like racers. So, although the solutions you showed are clumsy, that is no real biggie.

I want to note, that Ouya is a complete different device. Ouya is a console, not a phone or tablet. And with support from SquareEnix and Onlive it might be a real competitor.

The problem that Phones and Tablets as gaming devices face are the price of the games. Rovio made a game, that is successful beyond all that we can ever expect from console-games. Wikipedia says it sold 500 million times, some sources say even 1 billion times. That's an incredible high number. Super Mario Galaxy as one of the most successful classical games this gen sold 10 million times. Angry Birds sold 50 times that. Now take a look at the turnover (is this right, I'm no native english speaker, looked it up in a dictionary, I mean the money that flowed through the company in a year): Rovio has a turnover of 75 million € (it's a european company). Activision made 2.9 billion US$, Ubisoft 900 million €, Konami 3,2 billion US$ (265 billion Yen). They are all much bigger than Rovio. Although none of them has a game even nearly as successful as Rovio with Angry Birds.

You cannot sustain game-development, that takes two or three years, with this level of revenue. Yes, Pullblox, Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja all may work with a smaller budget and shorter development time. But not Final Fantasy, Mario, Zelda, God of War, GTA, Uncharted or Metroid. That's why Phones and Tablets take another niche of the game-market - until they manage to increase the prices for games. Ouya is a different beast, as I said before.
