It's a pointless statement to add multiple generations of sales of one brand and compare them to single generation sales of other brands. There is no value to it whatsoever other than to make Sony fanboys feel better about their brand coming in dead last in the current generation. The only thing that matters is the sales of two competing brands in the same market, in the same generation. Anything else is drivvel meant to skew arguments in the favor of the person making the statement, which I don't see the point of.
