There's nothing wrong with couch gaming - I love spending time on Mario Kart or Timesplitters with my gaming friends, but they're not always here. Online gaming is always here, and it's a method we use to keep in touch as everyone moves on with their lives. exactly that is the point. i often read peoples opinion saying "i meet my friends when i wish to play a videogame with them" or something like that but that is simply not possible anymore if you are an adult out of school. when i was in school over ten years ago i had no problem meeting with friends in freetime to play with them these games because all the friends were in the same school or lived few streets further. nowadays most friends left the city to work or study anywhere, those wo still live close to me have own families and a hard job. you can always call a friend and say "come let's play few rounds online" at evening even if he has a wife, but you can't just say "you have to work tomorrow right? we have 10pm come to me and let us play together on a couch, we are 30 years and who cares about your wife and bla" lol
online gaming still let me interact with my friends even if i don't see them for months, that is just great and nothing less and much better than just talking with them on the phone.
