I hate all these stupid people saying that the ending might have been a dream. Alfred said he does go to Paris not that he daydreams of going to Paris. This isn't Inception people. I bet Nolan going to wish he never made the ending opened because now retards are going to say every movie he make might have an ending up to interpretation.

But did Alfred ever say which cafe in Paris?  And how would you react if somebody apparently died and suddenly, you saw them at your favorite restaurant?  If I went to McDonald's and saw Tupac there, I'd be like "HOLY FUCK!  I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD!!"  I wouldn't just take a sip of my coke and nod my head.  I'd also quit smoking marijuana because, apparently, I was really fucked up.

I think the ending really is open for interpretation and there is no wrong answer.  It's just as easy for me to come up with a scenario where Batman lived as it is for me to come up with one where he is dead.  Luckily, I subscribe to the #1 rule of comic books:  "If there is no body, then there is no death"

Alfred tracked the location of the "necklace" which Hathaway is wearing in that scene at the end. Remember they had a trace on the necklace...that's how he ended up at that cafe (and also as he's been there before so he could've been goin there anyway)

Anyway Alfred has no motivation to imagine Bruce sitting with Selina Kyle

There is no "open" ending, the only correct answer is that he is alive.

This is no inception, I agree with pokeclaudel.
