Hmmm... I thought I read that after Club Nintendo's "Calendar Year" your points would be whiped. 

No.  Unredeemed coins expire after 2 Club Nintendo years.

Your Elite Status coins reset every year, but that does not affect your total coins.  The Elite Status coins are really just a running total of the coins you earned in a single Club Nintendo year.
