An open world, a morality system and drastic combat technique differences are not cosmetic difference at all. When Nathan Drake can magically blow people and cars metres in the air and absorb electricity to eject it from his hands (along with fire and ice) I'll accept that the gameplay is similar. The platforming is similar, the melee combat is... kinda similar... but that's about it really. As a whole, the gameplay feels very different, you're doing very different things and using very different tactics to defeat enemies. |
They don't alter how one plays really. It may give you relatively more freedom(not really when in missions though. More of in between) but the morality system doesn't do anything except change the way you look and make people run away from you. The story is the same all the way to the end(of the first one but not the second one but only the end is different) regardless of what you choose. You admitted that the rest were similar so i don't think we are really arguing anymore. I don't see what we disagree on anymore. DK and Mario may be more similar than infamous and Uncharted but tbh, they really aren't if that makes sense. The core gameplay of the two pairs resemble the other game in the pair which is what i was going after.
