I saw this as a non-issue last E3, and still people like to bring it up. This solution they went for is what PC makers are using to speed up their computers while keeping competitive prices, having hybrid storing solutions that take the advantages of SSD for fast programs and HDD for massive storage is the best way to go.
And since last year, I already have two more usb HDD. I have at least two other old ones I can use with the Wii U.
