“Mass Effect 3 sold more than twice as much as did Mass Effect 2 during its introductory month in January 2010,"

ME2 sold 572,100 in first month.

If true then ME3 seem overtracked. It also released on 3 platforms and had 4 weeks in NPD, while ME2 572k figure is for first week. Lets see how much more then twice it sold, maybe 1300k?

Who would have thought? *rolls eyes*

vgchartz has mass effect 3 at over 1.8mil for the month I think. While I agree that is probably too high, its not as significantly as you may think.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, ME2 sales were back when npd tracked individual skus so the 572k is only for the 360. Obviously we don't know pc retail sales,

An example. In november 2011 npd, they announced Skyrim sold 5times oblivion did first month. 360 version of oblivion was 350k, so people assumed 1.7mil first month for skyrim,  but it was later announced skyrim sold 2.8mil first month "npd" so the pc version of oblivion must have sold 210k.

So I don't think it would be unreasonable to think mass effect 2 had sold 100-200k on the PC first month. So over twice more than that means 1.4-1.6mil for ME3.
