Some of what I say may be repeating earlier posts.
- You probably don't want to be assembling it yourself if you've never done anything like it before. Go to a specialist custom PC website. Service charge is minimal.
- AMD CPUs are considerably cheaper than Intels. A quad-core Athlon is ridiculously cheap for its performance.
- Don't skimp on the graphics card. It is arguably the most important part of your computer for gaming, and 9/10 times it is what limits your performance. No lower than a GTX 460 or whatever the AMD equivalent is (5700 I believe)
- 1TB hard drive. You may not think you'll be able to fill it. You can and will. Steam sales do that.
- 4GB of RAM should be fine, but you might want to go with 8 to be on the safe side.
