That's such a BS statement, I've heard that countless times from Nintendo fans. I understand that graphics and processing isn't the most important part of games, but they are still an important part. Thousands of games have been made with current and under powered tech but better tech can create better games. Tech always has limitations. Just listening to an interview of the guy making Retro City Rampage. He's making a game based off 80's 8 bit games, but he is able to do a lot more that couldn't be done with 8 bit era tech. Things as simple as certain animations or activity on screen. Same goes for current gen, the complexity of current games AI and on screen interaction far out rule last gen and so on.

What's really going on is Nintendo is creating a 2nd(another) market in gaming by releasing consoles on the low end tech side. Well, controllers aside. Got to hand it to them, interesting business strategy of late.

So says the sony fan. How do you know how pwerful the Wii U is going to be?. It seems to me you know nothing about specs. Just cos Nintendo says they care more about gameplay then  telling people specs means nothing...

You apparently didn't understand what I wrote. The Wii U has already been known to be in a certain realm of technical prowess. The Wii went low tech this gen as well. Tech specs are relatable to gameplay. Greater tech allows for greater animation, AI, complexity in gameplay. I'm not saying its a bad thing not to go cutting edge, and there is plenty more that can be done with lower tech specs. I just feel that statements like those cause people to believe that processing power is not important to gaming and they develop an unrealistic view that by not adapting stronger technical spces that they are achieving better games, or at least games with a stronger emphasis on gameplay. Gameplay is only as good as the work a developer is willing to place into it, and can also be a matter of opinion. Having stronger specs will not limit gameplay, but having weaker specs can potentially do so. Right now our tech is pretty advanced compared to the jumps in power we experienced in older generations. Using less powerful tech is not a large deal anymore and therefore a successful market using older technology can be just as successful as cutting edge markets.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(
