Am I wrong for not offering my seat to an old lady on the bus?

I once offered my seat to a woman on a subway and she said NO. I already stood up so I couldn't sit back down without looking like a tool. I was secretly hoping she would break a heel and then I'd be like "yeah, you should have taken the seat!"
