You were wrong and selfish. That sounds harsh, but it's true. I'm sure your a nice person and all, but next time you should offer your seat to someone who needs it more than you.
I can't even count the number of times I've offered my seat to an elderly person, not just elderly woman, but men too. If you think you were tired, just think how tired you'll be in another 50 years.
It's awful that we live in a world where the elderly get no respect and in many cases disrespect. This old woman should have been offered a seat as soon as she stepped on the bus, but everyone ignored her hoping the next person would do it until she got to the back you you ignored her too. You didn't feel her gaze on you, you felt your own guilt welling up inside. Learn from this, do better next time. We are human, we make mistakes, we aren't perfect, but learning from our mistakes is what makes us better than we were yesterday.
