Nintendo shouldn't care, because they're in the business of selling their own systems, and have one effective tool to use in the sale of such systems (e.g. first party games) that bears little on what anyone else is doing Nintendo only need follow industry trends very vaguely and broadly, to minimize the amount of good excuses third parties have for not developing on the platform (but of course, 3rd parties will take the bad or irrational excuses, so that point is almost moot as well.) |
Nintendo should in fact care. For example, Sony caught a bunch of flack for releasing the PSP with only one analogue stick, and yet Nintendo does the same with the 3DS and are now releasing a peripheral with an additional analogue stick.
