If Skyward Sword doesn't manage to break 500k in Japan, that would probably put the series (In the eyes of Nintendo) about equal to Kirby. Even Ocarina 3D has managed 450k so far.
Epic Yarn managed 450k... I really can't imagine a mainline Zelda game selling worse than a Kirby game. If it drops below 10k in the next set of numbers, I'll be really shocked. Wind Waker on the Gamecube even managed to sell 885k in Japan. That's fairly huge, considering the size of the Gamecube base (4 Million?)
