Why does it need to use different devices? You could simply tune controls on the same kind of device to provide different advantages and disadvantages to different players, which is hardly a revolution of any kind.
| Joelcool7 said: Either way you look at it the gameplay described in my OP can't be done on any other platform. As such it is revolutionary. |
I see nothing in the OP that isn't possible on other platforms. The only difference is that the WiiU may be able to execute these games on one console rather than having the need for several machines. But people have been doing LAN parties for years, so while it would offer a practical advantage, it's not a revolution. In fact, your MMO/RTS/FPS is very, very doable on PC. It hasn't been done (to my knowledge) to the extent you describe, but there is nothing stopping developers from doing it.
| Joelcool7 said: Fact is what these three control devices seperate or combined in a variety of combinations offer developers. Developers are capable of doing all kinds of things and when you give them this much freedom by offering them three different control styles that can all be utalized in multiplayer online or offline and in any combination. The possibilities are endless! |
Again, I don't see anything here that isn't really doable on PC. Take for example a game like the tag game you described in the OP. Go play Hidden: Source at a LAN party and you have that very experience.
You're also overestimating the power of looking at other people's screens. In Hidden, the player who is "it" can temporarily see where the other players are if they are within a certain distance of him. This means the player gets almost exactly the same advantage, but without the need to look away from their own screen. Looking away from your own screen can be a dangerous thing too, as it means you can't really play while you're observing.
I'm not denying the WiiU could do something like this with a practical advantage, but calling it a revolution means ignoring PC gaming completely. It's not a revolution.
