My advice. Don't buy one. My family bought a Philips SmartTV a few months ago. For about a week we watched exclusively 3D programmes and movies, but haven't watched any since.
And active glasses are really your best bet at the moment. Passive will be cheaper and easier to use, but as already mentioned your resolution will be lower. It looks ok, but only really justifiable if you have a lot of guests over regularly. It's more of the kind of thing you see at exhibitions, where lots of people will be watching.
