That's it, having a handle with a nunchuck, when the screen is pointing outwards it displays a shield that shows different stages of damage and when you flip it towards you see a menu, map or visor - jejeje. I'd be funny if they can mix both control options.

It could also be used as a simple map, inventory, etc; or used by a co-op player that plays as Link's guide, using the gyro to look around and help you out.
