PS3 broke a while back... Buying a new one soon. Need advice. Help me!

I am not joking, my PS3 broke last month, I bought a slim just last week with the price cut and did this on my old system, I turns on long enough for me to back-up the saves and transfer them to the new system.

Thanks. Will 100% give this a go when I get chance. I just hope it stays alive long enough for me to get my data!
