I wish the PS3/360 would have a stand-by/sleep function like the PSP/iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad/DS/3DS.

hmm i guess the difference is that all of those have screens and internal batteries :| 

The screen component of a mobile device consumes about 50% of its power. That's why they only turn that off.

For consoles, the Wii doesn't consume much, but PS3 and X360 should act like the PC they are and have that sleep mode, maybe next generation.
