The only thing I'm afraid of is that by having both games out now, customers will be confused and may perceive them as more shovelware, ending up buying neither.

Can this happen? Though similar (same series), they are different games. But I agree, Go Vacation should have been out during the summer.

It's really a matter of perception, it's not something objective. Just like how LKS failed because of presentation. On the other hand if both games are perceived as similar in style to Namco's "We Ski" series, that's not exactly a bad thing, as those were good games that did find a market.

If you look at the sales of We Ski and We Ski & Snowboard here in VGChartz, there is a drop in sales for the next year sequel since it was perceived to be the same with just added snowboards (and they are correct there). Now we have two open world resort games releasing together, I say they'll cannibalize themselves rather than being perceived as shovelware. Anyways it's subjective matter like you say.

Now, going to Siliconera to read that article. EDIT: They told you to import the controller LOL The qualities he says are better than other fishing games are present in the Go Vacation game, that's why we both think they could hurt each other. It still might be fun to have another island to explore and fish!
