Are you telling me that if none of your friends are online you would turn off the console and not play?

I'm not him, but I could also answer that (since I also said something similar) - but depending on circumstances, some would. e.g. all you presently do on your console is play MH online. Friends are there - you join. Not, you go do something else.

Ok, I can see what you mean. It's just that I only turn on the console when I want to play, and if there is no one to play online then I just pick anoher game I can play alone.

Different people, different ways to play, I guess.

That's one possibility. You could also go in just to check your e-mail and get invited to a co-op game. It depends how the online is defined, I haven't experirenced it first hand on the other consoles so I can only assumed how I'd use it.

Still, they could have the console on 24/7 similar to WiiConnect24, just streaming the information to the controller. Videocalls, notifications, VoIP, messages, e-mails.. you'd be alerted via the controller. You could attend these without turning on the TV.
