yeah i kind of worry about wii getting left behind if they release such a weak console now for profit.  How much loss will 360/PS3 take to put a much more technolically superior console on the market 1-2 years later?  1GB of RAM, also, is definitely not enough for the Wii 2 to grow into.

This is said a lot, but why didn't the same thing happen this generation... Didn't the Xbox 360 launch one year earlier than the PS3? Has the hardware difference been that big? Or are we assuming that the Wii2 will only be slightly better than the HDready consoles?

That's it. Nintendo has always launched a powerful console with the exception of Wii. I don't see why they can't have a beast of a machine stand next to the Wii at retail. The Wii could retail for $100 and the new console for $300 or so.

They both will co-exist, it only just depends if there is a continuing software support for the Wii. Can the Wii survive with old software? It has done for most of this year so far... Nintendo/third-parties would only need to release some software during Q4.

Another scenario that could occur this coming generation is that either Microsoft or Sony chicken out of the hardware race and go for a profitable one leaving the other to bleed money on their razor.
