I'd say it does now, more than ever, since the West is the main money income for Nintendo, and even Iwata admitted to having to expand this gen or else they will go through the same. E3 is the biggest place with the most media coverage any Videogame company has to show off their creations. Nintendo couldn't let this one slip, I think it was now or never really.
