The sales are in decline so it's debatably "dying". If the new Nintendo console is designed to cater more towards the core gamer as is rumoured then I can see them keeping the Wii as their entry level console for a few more years yet and having it so all peripherals and games are compatible with the new console.
Really, it all depends on how well they support the Wii in the next few years, especially after the new console is released.
