Power won't make their next system successful, nor will it make the next Sony and MS systems successful, having quality games that catch the auience like the Wii did in its first few years will do that, third parties have never been very supportive of Nintendo, and I don;t expect that to change next gen, so chasing them is futile and wasteful |
No, third parties don't support Nintendo and have never done so. Of course only if you ignore the NES, the SNES, the GB, GBC, GBA, DS and 3DS.
If Nintendo doesn't get more third party support it will be the biggest mistake. Remember that now that the HD's are getting a constant stream of games and that Nintendo has almost ceased suppporting the Wii, sales are going down dramatically. It will be a short lived phenomenum if all that Nintendo gets are first party games and then long droughts. And power will be important, even Nintendo admitted to having their next console display HD resolutions. Besides that a new innovation is needed for them to succeed, but power will have to be better than or on par with what the actual HD consoles have, else they will be ignored by 3rd parties like Wii was. If they get both things right and somehow manage to avoid the big 1st party game droughts and actually localize some games, then I don't see any reason why a gamer would choose any other console, unless what they want are the first party offerings. Right now, what's selling the consoles mostly are the 3rd party AAA games and in PS3's case, the more constant flow of big 1st party games, something Wii got intermitently and not anymore.
