Wii is turning into irrelevancy for third parties, now more than ever. The line up of games is simply catastrophic in terms of quantity and quality. If we add the fact that Nintendo's first party team resources are moving away from the Wii to the 3DS and the unknown, then we can land in the conclusion that they are indeed focusing on the next system.

I will have to agree with one of the jounralist/dev that said that getting a head start might be the only way for them to attract 3rd party devs to their newer console, if Sony and MS are developing very powerful next gen systems. Price was really not an issue for hardcore gamers this gen, as proven by the sales of both the 360 and the PS3 which easily surpass Wii's marketshare. And a price cut for the Wii can only point to the Wii 2 direction.

Nintendo has little to gain from the Wii anymore and if they don't switch tracks soon, then they will be all alone for the rest of the gen and possibly during next gen too. It would be a tragedy for Iwata if things turn 180°. Hopefully he makes the right decisions and when the time is right. They have a lot to learn from their mistakes this gen, a lot.
