Actually it does mean sold, since one organization has sold it to another organization. What you  are trying to refer to is called sell-through rate. Next time, best advice not to call another person a dumbass, namely when you yourself aren't correct on the termonology. 

Add: The applies to anyone else, who is stating something like this. Given your history on this site, you should know the difference by now. 

The thing is the second organization is a middleman, and the public is what gives this middleman their money. If the public hasn't gone for it in anywhere near those numbers, then the middleman will not be happy about it.

Well it is trully the middle man that over orders or over estimates demand. I think they will sell the 1 million by the way, but I was just commenting on the fact, that so many people are picking fights about the term "sold", when what they are really trying to convey is sell-through.
