The reason that Nintendo doesn't bring out as many games as Sony is because they don't have as many studios. To add to that, all of Nintendo's 1st Party studios excluding Retro, HAL, and EAD3 are officially working on 3DS games. Sony has like 14 internal studios, and several second party affiliates. Of the 14 games Sony has planned, for release this year on PS3, 8 of them were developed by outside studios and not by SCE WWS. They are all working on both the NGP and PS3. When you combine the force of the 3DS, coupled with Sony's massive Worldwide Studios group and external partners, Nintendo can't produce as many games as Sony in the same timeframe. This is why Sony puts more games out faster. |
Nintendo has 26 First/Second party studios. They also have quite a few 3rd party semi-exclusive studios like Monster Games, Shine'en, etc.

Check them out here, I'm keeping the list up to date as best as I can. There really is no excuse for this drought. They are outsourcing everything. This only points out at a new console being unveiled very soon.
