Have to write an informative speech, any ideas?

It's a pretty simple assignment:  I have to write a 2-3'ish page essay (or 2-5 mins long) informing the class about something. It can be anything as long as it's informative.

Two topics I have so far:

- Somethin related to music, preferably along the lines of music production. I mess around with music production software pretty much every other day. Music is kinda a big part of most people's lives so I think it'd be cool to write this stuff since it'd be somethin peeps in the class would be able to relate to.

- Crime rate in the US compared to other countries. I'm just some random american guy but I've heard/read/been told multiple times that compared to some other countries, we have alota murder going on around here! A canadian friend told me that one of our problems as americans is that were too used to it. I guess that's true in a sense:  I heard 3 gunshots the other day at around 3am and minutes later, I heard the ambulence. Another friend that lives closeby tells me he hears gunshots pretty often. He said it in a way that made it seem like it really is just....normal life.

 

Besides these two, do you guys have any other ideas for something informative and interesting? It should be simple to write once I have info. The hardest part (which shouldn't be too hard) would just be getting the info on a specific topic.
