I honestly don't think it can be done. Little kids want a smartphone or itouch these days, and a suprising amount of parents are willing to buy them one. The nintendo ds was a much cheaper option for a gift. The 3ds currently very expencive. The DS had the benefit of being extremly innovative, which greatly helped sales once software took advantage of that. The big new feature of the 3ds is 3d which the theaters have milked into oblivion by now. I think it will sell really well but will not approach the ds's lifetime sales, especially considering the ds will still be the console of choice for those on a budget and will still sell millions for years.
