I respect your opinion but I think you are wrong friend.
I believe that price is a big factor when somebody buys a system but at the same time price only determines when somebody buys a system not how many people buy a system in my personal opinion. Games, Features, and Items(Such as Move or Kinect) are what sell systems not price. I am not trying to say that price doesn't matter because it does but not as much as the other things do. The 360 just got a huge boost in sales and is up a lot Y.O.Y...why? Price didn't drop even $1. It was because of Kinect. When 360 gets a Price Cut will sales go up? Yes but I don't believe it was because the price in the end...again it would be because of Kinect and 360's library of games. The people that buy 360 when its price drops were the same people who already wanted a 360 but couldn't afford one. Think about it? Why would anyone buy a system that they don't like because it just got a Price Cut? The G.C was new for $100 yet it couldn't sell for crap LOL and if it went to $50...still would be outsold buy a $200 PS2 week in and week out in the long run.
In your theory...Wii sold at huge levels during Holiday 2009 because the price went down from $250 to $200. In my theory... games sold the Wii during Holiday 2009. Yes, New Super Mario Bros. Wii sold a lot of them but so did Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus, Mario Kart Wii and others. In the end games sell systems not price...but price does determine however when people actually buy them.
For example(In theory) Say I have been thinking about buying a 360 since January 2010. The price is currently $300 and $200. I think that $300 and $200 is way too high for a 360(by its model) as I am only interested in 10 games so I decide to wait. 2010 comes and goes and its still $300 and $200 so I still don't own a 360. In April 2011 360 gets a Price Cut to $200 and $100...Great! I then buy a 360. Why? I bought a 360 because its library of games interest me and now its my price.
Now lets take the DS. I don't see any games that interest me at all(Maybe 1 or 2) and the price is currently $170. About 1 year later DS gets a Price Cut to $130...do I buy one...NO! The next year a new DS Model comes out and the old DS drops to $50! Now do I buy one? NO! You see even if the DS gets to a very low price it still doesn't mean I will buy one unless its games and features interest me.
My point is IMO Price doesn't determine how much a system sells...the games, Items, and features(Yes Motion control too) do.
