Trolling is not appreciated.  Mario games have continued to innovate and pioneer gameplay advancements.  A new IP could bring nothing new to the table just as an old IP could reinvent the way we play games.  Innovation does not necessarily have to come from a new IP.

At any rate, that wasn't the point of what he was saying.  Others have explained his statement nicely in earlier posts so I don't see a need to elaborate on it myself.

It's easy to take what you say the wrong way though. Also, there have now been the same number of "core" Mario games as COD games. Activision milk their franchises WAAAAAAY more than Nintendo...

Also, Mario has many branches, so each game is different. Look at Mario Kart to NSMBWii to Mario Party to Galaxy, for example
