Nintendo dominates top 10 local multiplayer games!

No, I don't have to agree. For starters, PC multiplayer tends to be centered around FPS & strategy games (real time or turn-based) and I can't say I know much else that gets played LAN. There are probably some sports, but they are the same sports titles that are on consoles that support 10-player games (at least back when we had multitaps)

With Nintendo you get some games that you can't find anything like on PC (or that match the quality if they are found on the PC). For example, just looking at first party games, titles that play like Mario Party, Smash, Mario Kart, Wii Sports and NSMBWii can't be found on the PC (or pale in comparison).

So, depending on the type of local multiplayer you want, it is easy enough to argue for either side.

However, LAN has one major drawbacks to console multiplayer. The need for everyone to carry their PC, Monitor, Keyboard, and Mouse all over to the event. Then you either need a large area room for everyone to sit on the floor, or a ton of table space. This is a major drawback for many people and I've only ever had a game size of 4 or 5 at the largest.

So, I would easily say that Nintendo destroys PC for local multiplayer (in the 2-4 player range) due to ease of use and the variety of games that I can play that I can't on PC. But I would agree that PC has pretty much every system beat for online multiplayer and for games supporting 5 or more players (not a lot of console games supported more than 4 players).

The thing is, this list is about the games, and not what you have to do to play them locally. And there are many PC games that kick ass when played on LAN.

Yah their are some great PC LAN games, but honestly I don't think they would knock many of Nintendo's titles from the top. As Mummelman says their just aren't that many genres that the PC dominates. FPS, RTS, TBS and what else? A few games come to mind that may have made the list if it inculded PC and I think the list would look alittle different but all in all the PC stopped dominating gaming shortly after the Commador64 and Amiga.

Pretty much every RTS ever made that support LAN should have made the list. Or at least AoEII, Starcraft, and especially Warcraft 3 would easily have made the list if it had PC games in it. Then we have the Heroes of Might and Magic series with its excellent hot seat multiplayer, and many FPS games that support LAN.
Just becasue there are a few genres doesn't mean that there are plenty of games in those genres that would easily make it.
