Err, it already has, just a week ago there was a big tourney in Germany, with a 15,000$ prize pool (and 5,000 for first place) called Interl Extreme Masters (IEM), it was during Gamescom.

Also, like two days ago there was a MLG SC2 tourney in North Carolina, and the winner took 2500$.

Not to mention the international SC2 competitions in South Korea, sponsored by Blizzard and hosted be Gomnet (or something like that!) - monthly tournemants with a first prize of 85,000$ (although, you must qualify for the tourney physically in Korea)

Still, the big name korean players haven't made the shift yet, and that's what's important. Almost all players SC2 has now are boring to watch, except TLO.
