Iwata is talking about this from a business perspective. Companies care about the social acceptance of games (not gamers, but games themselves) because it means that mroe people will buy games.

Clearly you forget game companies aren't businesses they're actually charities that take huge losses on the games they produce cause they love their fans... tee hee

So really Microsoft and Sony are saints, and nintendo is the devil!

It all makes sense now, the sales, the fans, and the addictive games....all signs of devils.
