When people have the choice among 2 versions, they will probably go with the superior one. Japan cares about HD graphics, otherwise we won't be seeing all multiplatform games performing better on the PS3 than the Wii.

Only problem with that logic is, some people might prefer motion controls to HD graphics, (which might explain why the Wii has thus far sold twice as much as PS3 in Japan).

Not everyone sees HD graphics as the end all be all of gaming. "Superior" version is really a relative term.

Yes motion controls and price could favour the Wii, but experience has shown that most multiplat games have sold better on the PS3 in Japan. But part of the problems are 3rd parties themselves, because most of the times the Wii version is missing features. Like with Basara 3, online is missing and motion controls aren't the draw here, otherwise there wouldn't be a classic controller pro bundled with the game.
