The Legend of Zelda: The Fierce Deity
The plot twist? The big bad isn't Ganon. It's Link from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, equipped with the Fierce Deity Mask from . Driven mad by watching Hyrule rise and fall, being an adult in a child's body and a child in an adult's body, reliving the same three days over and over again, and losing anybody he can relate to, Link becomes apathetic, and uses the Fierce Deity Mask to gain power and, hopefully, purpose. He has come back to Hyrule after countless years of wandering, and blames the land itself for his suffering.
To save Hyrule, the player will have to slay the hero who saved it in 1998. How's that for ending an era?
