I've knocked my Wii over countless times while the disc was spinning, and I'm yet to scratch a disc.
However, the disc drive now makes funny noises and I've now moved the Wii on its side to hopefully not completely break the thing. At the time I didn't realize the clear plastic circle actually attached to the base so this wouldn't happen
