| jarrod said: Wada said he expects Wii's successor in 2011, I sort of think that means they're at least planning to release DQX before/by then. I'm betting fall 2011, which would be just over 2 years after DQIX. Of course there's also always good chance that it'll hit some snag and get delayed (just like DQVII/VIII/IX all were actually). Considering when DQX was announced, I think Armor Project and Level-5 likely started preproduction well before DQIX even released. The infrequency of DQ releases is something Square Enix has lamented before, and with FF now also getting more infrequent (and costly!), I can see Wada taking action to try and speed things up. |
Wada expects Wii's successor in 2011, but that would mean that the Wii lasted as long as the GC did, which seems unlikely and contradicts Nintendo themselves. I don't think we will see DQX until at least late 2012, which would be a huge improvement over the last games considering dev time. Also, the announcement date has little to do with it, I'm sure there's always planning being made for the next game even before they release the one they are working at currently. Also, DQ games since VII tend to appear close the consoles last days, probably to have a huge install base at the moment of launch.
