They bet big on Sony because all the analysts thought the PS3 would sell better than the PS2 and the Wii would sell worse than the GC. Yes, developing on Wii would make a lot more sense for a lot of the big Japanese devs, but they really bet on the wrong system, and for a long time denied that the Wii is a viable platform for big blockbuster games mostly out of their own stubbornness.
besides, you really picked a bad example of a company as FFXIII is the only game square enix has made for the PS3 so far. Versus will make its way out eventually, but DQX (which is arguably bigger) is going to the Wii, and the Wii has a lot of other games like Dragon Quest Swords and FF:CC. |
I think DQX should be on the DS, so far the Wii has shown us it cannot sell has the handhelds, look at MH3 numbers. And, no FFXIII is bigger than DQ, JAPAN is not the world.

Well, if the Wii can't sell games, then the PS2 must have been horrible, as Monster Hunter Tri- outsold Monster Hunter 2 by 33%. Some franchises sell better on handhelds or consoles, so that would sort of be like saying DS can't sell software because Modern Warfare Mobilized flopped.

I actually think this is an alt account, but I haven't made up my mind based on the evidence yet, so we'll see.
