E3 was converted from a hype fest to an entertainment industry expo. In other words the focus shifted from gamers to industry and mainstream media. They went to invite only, and shrunk the size of the conference by a lot. Nintendo realized this and shifted focus too. If E3 truly goes back to the ways of old, they will probably shift back over to entertaining the fans who show up.

isn't it that way for pretty much every company? Capcom let Spyborgs fall flat on the ground. I can pick a lot more games beyond that.
