HotD's a large series?  Afaik the Wii port of 2&3 is the first one to break a million units since HoTD2 back in the 1990s?

Sega's HD games are niche?  Really?  Virtua Fighter 5, Sega Rally Revo, Iron Man, Armored Core 4, Beijing Olympics, Phantasy Star Universe, Full Auto 1-2, Virtua Tennis 3/2009, the Golden Compass, Golden Axe, Condemned 1-2, Universe at War, Stormrise, Yakuza 3/Kenzan, The Club, Viking, Incredible Hulk, Bayonetta, Initial D and 2 Sonic games were all niche now?

Not a large series, exactly. But...ah fine, I'll accept that you're right here.

Now:

Virtua Fighter: Fighting games in general are decreasing in popularity, and VF5 was pretty sucky, compared to the competition.

Sega Rally: It's a rally game.

Iron Man: Movie game.

Armored Core: Armored Core. Yes, it is niche.

Beijing Olympics: Are you serious? That game was utter crap.

Phantasy Star Universe: Stop picking out awful games, or I'll do the same.

Full Auto: See previous.

Virtua Tennis: Tennis games aren't very popular.

Golden Compass: Movie game.

Golden Axe: sucky game.

Condemned: Survival horror, and not RE or SH. Too scary for most.

Universe at War: Shoddy PC port.

Stormrise: Awful game.

Yakuza 3: Sold excellently in Japan, not even released in the West.

The Club: Again... bad.

Viking: Once again...bad.

Hulk: Movie game.

Bayonetta: NOT EVEN OUT YET. Come on! It released in Japan, and did reasonably well.

Initial D: I've never even heard of it.

2 Sonic games: Sonic Unleashed, and a Sonic: The Hedgehog remake?

So yes, bad SEGA games and lazy games based on movie licenses don't sell on HD consoles. Or on Wii, with the exception of Sonic Unleashed.

Oh man, I can't believe I'm doing this but...

Sega Rally: Rally games are huge in Europe, they're Codemasters bread and butter.  Sega Rally was big classic IP (way bigger than HotD) and the game got top reviews.  And yet it BOMBED.

A few top reviews and a lot of mediocre reviews.

Rally games are nowhere near as popular in Europe as you might think. Certainly more popular than in the US, but aside from the Colin McRae series there is simply nothing.
