Megadrive had a head start, but when the Super Nintendo launched it outsold the MegaDrive. And when the MegaDrive got Sonic, it outsold the Super Nintendo.
After that marketshare went back and fourth, and in the end of 1993 Sega had 52% marketshare.
And after that they made some stupid desicions with the 32X and Saturn and imploded at the same time that Nintendo released DKC.
