Plus, if you are saying that the DS's successor makes no sense, then you must know something we don't.

HISTORICALLY NINTENDO STOPPED PRODUCING GAMES FOR THEIR PLATFORMS RIGHT BEFORE THE LAUNCH OF THEIR NEXT ONE.

THERE ARE NO MORE GAMES ANNOUNCED FOR THE DS NEXT YEAR, EVEN IN JAPAN. Can you understand it now that it is in caps?

Golden Sun 3 is the only game coming out. Last year, at this time we already knew about multiple games coming out for the DS, now we only have one upcoming game. And it's no coincidence that after DQVI there are no more DS games announced from SE.

I did quote the wrong post...But you still awnsers your own question..Why no announcements for Ds in Japan and I will awnser with something you said earlier why hype none major franchise games..... In other words the games that are coming are not major franchise so why hype...just like you said...

Check at the amount of games the DS got from Nintendo themselves in 2006, 2007, 2008 and now 2009. Do you see a pattern?

If you are going to use Wikipedia as a source I would recommend you to check game by game, not look at that terrible list they have set up. 2009 saw way less games than 2008, and if that's an indication, 2010 will be way smaller, considering we only have 1 game announced for next year.
