Like the AVGN says, "What were they thinking" Anyway even with the horrible reception at E3 2008 and probably not soo good reception from the testers, it's a enigma (at least for me) why they trusted in 2 games like Wii Music and Animal Crossing for the holiday lineup? And according to Iwata they even think that both titles could drive sales for months. |
Yeah, I also found it strange that the cries from most of the people at E3 fell on deaf ears. Nintendo should at least consider what gamers and industry people tell them sometimes. They are not infallible and perhaps their biggest mistake was to believe they were invincible with the Wii, considering that even then didn't expect such a success and probably thought everything they released would be gobbled up by the new audience.
Big mistake to ignore the gaming hungry section of their userbase. Many might have migrated during this big drought and getting them back will be the most difficult task. Red ocean my ass. Core gamers were starvating for great games. Nintendo followers wanted to try out Nintendo's next big thing that catered to them. Patience has its limits and when there's 2 other consoles offering what you want, then that's where you start losing customers. Coped with the lack of new ideas to draw new players in and instead they released expansions, sequels and ports, then you get that Wii is the least used out of all consoles. Casuals not getting anything new and worthwile to play while core gamers finding what they want with oterh consoles.
Wii could have been so much more... I don't have words to describe how bad they screwed up by resting on their laurels.
