well, the PS2 is sitting at 3.5m for the year, and the DS is at 17.4m for the year. Assuming some more sales for Nov/Dec push the DS 20m over the PS2 for this year and similar performance next year for another 20m units, I project that the DS will surpass the PS2 in total sales by Jan 1st 2011.
NOTE: all numbers based off of VGChartz sales numbers. If you want to go units shipped you may have to tack on another quarter.

You think DS will only sell around 20 million this year? You're probably about 10 million too low there, we still have 3 months to go including the holiday season. I think DS will pass the PS2 before the end of 2010.

Should have read a little more careful, although 20 million difference still seems low to me. I actually expect it to be closer to 25 million.

The PS2 will probably do 5m total this year (rough guess). After looking into it again, Yes I would agree that I may be underestimating DS sales.
