The link is in german: http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/98380 To summarize it: The computer-magazine c't associated with this newsticker had measured the energy-needs of the new 40GB-model and found it used fewer energy. They speculated it was because it uses 65nm-cell. But Sony said the chip is already in 90nm, they used for other parts more efficient components. In the next month the production will switch to 65nm. Hmm, does it mean the 40GB will after the holidays uses even fewer energy and because of that becomes more silent? Also that means Sony has no cost-reduction because of a new process-size of the cell yet. That comes later.
