Unlike its successor, Fallout 1 has no dialog for adjusting your party members gear. The best thing you can do is to steal their crap equipment away and/or plant better stuff on them and pray they use them.

Also - do you have the "Fast Shot" - trait? If so, you can't do aimed attacks with ANY weapon.

they finally started using the stuff, im not sure what prompted it, but both of them did at the same time.  ian and that other guy(the one from junktown).  they and dogmeat are really helpful, idk if i could have made it through some of the fights without them.

 

no, i dont have the trait, i just didnt know that i had to right click the gun picture.
