That's only if you ignore the fact that PS1 launched almost 10-12 months later in the rest of the world outside Japan, so for almost a year there was one territory accounting for all of PS1's sales, compared to PS3 which had all territories getting the PS3 much faster

So. It still makes PS3 at its 3rd Birthday > PS1 at its 3rd Birthday.

And PS3 released in its best region, Europe... 5 months after release in Japan
